Arts & Letters Award Win!!! And a couple of films to boot.
Hey all, Some exciting news on the composition front! I'm happy to announce that I have been chosen as a winner for an Arts & Letters Award in the Senior Music category for my composition "Tango Kareta"! You can hear this in the film scoring section or on the Arts and Letters website (viewable here). It will even be on display at the Rooms Art Gallery in downtown St.John's until May 13th. To read more about this years Arts & Letters Awards please click here. Many thanks to the Department of Tourism and Recreation for making this happen, I'm super honoured to be receiving this! More on the composition front, if you have a minute, feel free to have a peak at 2 new films that I've scored this year. Click here to check out Haya Waseem's short doc "Mimos" exploring a mime dance studio in Quebec. It features an improvised percussion score performed by Percussionists Rob Power, Andrew McCarthy and Kyle Reese! Many thanks to these guys for their musicality and artistry on this score. Also check out a short drama I scored earlier this year directed by Maria Morales entitled "Borderline". We went for a synthy Mark Isham approach to this score and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! You can check out their website here and their facebook page here. Some more gigs lined up for May, more info soon! Cheers, Simon
