New Films, New Albums, a New Year
It’s been an interesting few months. I haven’t updated this since last year so this might be a long post. I had some wonderful guests come in to the studio to record some demos for me to help showcase the potential of all this new equipment I’ve been gathering recently. Friends such as local rockers “Those Lasers” (who have decided to continue recording an EP here!), my good friend Mike Skiffington with his wonderful new acoustic trio “Casket Thieves”, one of my local favorites (and fiendishly good scat player) Adam Baxter with his group “Tall Tales” and last but not least, my good friend and local singer-songstress Anna Wheeler who has graciously allowed me to use one of her songs that we recorded here many moons ago. Studio aside for now, I have been working on a couple of new films. One recently implemented an improvised percussion score (Yes!!!). I have to say, I’m glad I had the chance to do that once in my lifetime because it was a really, really spectacular experience. Just amazing to watch and hear! Check out the credit music (the cue is called Mimos). The trio consisted of Rob Power, Andrew McCarthy and Kyle Reese. Many thanks to these folks for their time and artistry! As far as performing goes, I am really excited to have been jamming with a great piano trio recently along side bassist Dave Bridger and Pianist Grant King. We recently finished an RPM album and will hopefully get this music out for some gigs in the near future. Right now I’m just super excited to have this album finished!! Click HERE for a sample if anyone is interested (keep in mind that it’s a rough mix!). We might be recording more in the future so keep your eyes peeled… Well I think that’s all I can afford to write for now… More soon! Cheers, Simon
